You may notice that Busbot has no steering wheel, no brake pedals and no driver – its future transport, but wearing a design celebrating the sacred heritage of the land it operates on.
In partnership with the BusBot project, the National Aboriginal Design Agency, worked with Aboriginal youth from Coffs Harbour High School to create artworks based on stories shared by local Gumbaynggirr Elders, Aunty Elaine Turnbull and Uncle Mark Flanders.
Six artworks were selected and developed into a colourful and meaningful design telling the stories of Gumbaynggirr culture with particular focus on Muttonbird Island (Giidany Miirlarl — Gumbaynggirr for moon special place; Coffs Harbour) and the local totems.
