Yili is a Gathang word for bush or leaf. It is also the identity and brand for Aboriginal Design Training at Great Lakes TAFE Art and Design School. These Yili Cups are designed ‘in house’ at Great Lakes TAFE in a unique training and workplace environment. All Yili ceramics are slipcast porcelain. The unglazed printed and relief surfaces are designed to be touched – ‘feel the Yili stories’. Importantly, these cups are hand-made in Australia.
The cups are featuring in the April 2012 edition of the Journal of Australian Ceramics and are available for sale at the National Gallery of Australia shop.
